How we look after your information

People trust us with details about their health, their families and their children. This page says, in plain words, what we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do. Last updated 6 October 2026.

Who we are

Caring Lives Humanitarian Foundation (RC No: 9440744 (CAC Nigeria)) is a charity based in Lagos, Nigeria. We decide how your information is used, and we follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. To ask anything about your information, email info@caringlivesfoundation.org or call +234 901 983 4636 or +234 806 164 5286.

What we collect, and why

When you ask for help, on this website, by phone, at our office, on a home visit or at an outreach day:

We use these to consider your request, to deliver and pay for the help agreed, and to check afterwards that it arrived. We do not ask for your BVN, your NIN or copies of identity cards.

At an outreach day we keep the lightest record: your name, age band, sex, community and what you received. A phone number is optional.

When you write to us or offer to partner, we keep your name, email address and message, to answer you.

When you give, we keep your name, contact details and gifts, and whether you are happy to be named, to send receipts and to report back on what your gift paid for.

Newsletter: your name and email address, only after you confirm, and only until you unsubscribe. Every newsletter has a link to stop them.

Your consent

Who can see it

Only the staff whose work needs it: the officer handling your request, the people who approve and pay for support, and those who check our records. Staff sign in with two steps, and every time someone opens a request it is recorded. We never sell your information or share it for marketing.

These companies process information for us, under agreements that limit them to doing only that:

Some of these keep information outside Nigeria, including in the United Kingdom and the United States. We use them because they protect it to a standard at least as high as Nigerian law asks.

How long we keep it

Payments, gifts and approvalsAt least 6 years, as the law requires for financial records
Your details on a closed request6 years, then your name and contact details are removed
A request that was declined or withdrawn2 years, then your name and contact details are removed
Photos of documents12 months after your request closes
Outreach day attendance2 years, then only the totals are kept
Messages you send usAs long as the request or partnership they are about

This website

The forms on this website send what you type to us, and nothing else. To keep out spam, Cloudflare checks that a person, not a program, is filling them in.

To learn which pages help people, we use Google Analytics. It counts visits: the pages viewed, the country or city they came from, the device and browser, and how people found us. It also counts when someone sends a form or taps our phone number, email or WhatsApp, but never what they typed. It sets cookies on this website to tell a returning visitor from a new one. Google's advertising features are turned off, so none of this is used for ads.

Analytics stays off if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track.
