Asking for help

Who can apply for support?

Children, young people, adults and families who need help with school costs, a medical bill or medicines, or starting a small business. The application form is open to people in every state and the FCT. We are based in Lagos.

Apply for support

Does it cost anything to apply?

No. Applying is free, and we never ask for money to help you. If anyone asks you to pay a fee in our name, do not pay. Call us instead.

How do I apply?

Fill in the application form on this website, call us, or ask someone who knows us to refer you. You will get a reference number to quote whenever you contact us.

How long until I hear back?

We reply to every request within a week.

What happens after I apply?

A field officer visits you to understand your situation. The officer recommends what help to give, and someone else approves it. We then pay, usually straight to the school, hospital or supplier, and follow up to check the help arrived.

What documents do I need?

None to apply. On the home visit, the officer may ask to photograph a document that shows the need, such as a school invoice or a hospital bill, and only with your agreement. We do not ask for your BVN, your NIN or copies of identity cards.

Will you give me cash?

We usually pay the school, hospital or supplier directly. Where there is no supplier to pay, such as a small-business grant, we pay into the person's own bank account, in their own name or their guardian's. Every payment is a bank transfer.

Giving and getting involved

How can I donate?

We do not take payments on this website yet. Write to us or call, and we will send our bank details. You get a receipt, and we report back on what your gift paid for.

Ways to give

Can I choose what my gift pays for?

Yes. You can give to one program, such as education, or to one outreach day. A gift given for something only ever pays for that.

Can my company, church or community group partner with you?

Yes. Tell us what you have in mind, whether it is sponsoring school fees, funding an outreach day or something else, and we will work it out with you.

Can I volunteer?
